I Sing The Moon Electric

I sing the moon electric

jolted by the clouds

which take the light, refract it

and spread the wealth around

now she is a Drama Queen

not just sitting on a throne

combining all the elements

assuming full control

In a previous photo (Path to the Moon), I said that in some cases the camera is at a disadvantage compared to the eye in long exposure handheld night photos. But in this kind of situation, the camera gathers swirling light over 20 seconds or so and paints a picture I did not exactly see or, at least, consciously see. One of the reasons is that I am holding on tight to avoid too much jiggle and am not aware of what's happening after I point and shoot. Thus, the results are more unforeseen than in other night sky photos. Even if a tripod were used, I don't think the image could be anticipated because of the way a camera averages the light.

go to and for more - all photos handheld and unaltered
