Junius Brutus Booth

1796-1852 (Green Mount Cemetery) Junius Brutus Booth was born in England in 1796. By age seventeen Junius was already working as a stage actor, and by 1817 he starred as Richard III, the role that made him famous. In 1819 he ran off to America to start a new family and career. A Shakespearean dramatist of the highest ilk, Booth helped popularize theatre in the United States. His sons Edwin, John Wilkes and Junius Brutus Junior were all successful actors as well.
