My fondant experiment

    Newer Older

I've had this idea for a while, years ago I played around with polymer clay and feel that clay is very similar to fondant. I think this technique is called a flower cane this is my first try I can't say I love the color combo but I would try it again. I am planning on using these flowers to decorate cupcakes I still have another cane which I want to use to decorate a cake.

This is a link to a picture of a flickr jewelry maker who has made polymer flower canes to give you guys some additional ideas.

I tried this with fondant after seeing the lolly place!! I rushed it so it wasn't great & have been meaning to do some more properly for a ages now! I was amazed at what they can accomplish with lollies so thought it would be possible for cakes. I must try it again...

I work my models first in polymer clay and then i make them with fondant.. This because with clay i can make so many mistakes and do it over and over without worring if its dry. And also the good models i keep them for samples for customers.. Very good idea so...:o)
