    Pink Floyd - Time

Clock at a local shopping center, love this idea, something every day made into a piece of art with the addition of some smart thinking elements - public art is a nice touch and this is out of the ordinary for just a small local shopping center.

Shot in color, converted to sharp BW and some curves and contrast adjustments to give the effect I wanted - in color it was a little busy but in black and white it seems to work so much better.

Question is. Do you like it?

Neat subject, although i don't really understand what's going on... nice composition (i love that rope hanging on the right), contrast's good.

Clearly B/W is the right call on this. Nice shot, well framed. Still a picture of someone else's sculpture/idea which I guess is fine in a Sherrie Levine kind of way.

@sir lime - isn't it always someones elses work? Who made the mountains? not you or I.

It's our job to capture the world, not create it.

Nice shot. I would like more space above the top hand. And crop out the ropes on the far left and far right.

      But what do I know?

I actually want to make an argument against black and white for this shot. What the B+W is doing here is placing the figure and the clock together, but it appears (unless one of the two is actually a light yellow or something) that they were already the same color, and thus it's unnessesary to group them by color artificially. However, since I can't really know if they started the same color, I can't really take off points for this. It's a good looking, well framed photo with an interesting subject.

It's a good picture, but I find the ropes take away from the focus of the scene. It's not really your fauly they are there, but it hurts the composition.

In color - the figure is yellow, the clock is white, the ladder is red and the background is blue steel... Trust me looks better in BW .

As for the ropes. Well doesnt violate any rules of composition iI have ever seen or used or been taught. Each to their own, the ropes are an element of the scene and provide a change from the solid lines of the steel elements to my eyes.

Though acreepingmalaise has an excellent crop suggestion there.. Very interesting idea.

Very nice picture in B&W. I presume you maximised the contrast? Great song from my youth. I love the line "Hanging on in quiet desperation etc."!
