Artist’s statement:

In The dreamkeepers adolescents inhabit a constructed theatrical world, liberating themselves from the stereotypes that contemporary culture imposes on them. They’ve gone back on the globalised image of youth and have transformed themselves into venerable inhabitants of alternative dreams.

With masks, dress-ups and role-play, the adolescents search out the ambiguities and uncertainties of their age. They’ve lost their child identity and take on characteristics of an eccentric world that has passed, an age of individual characters who inhabit a landscape far away, transfigured, an elsewhere-space, like adolescence itself. Through their performances the young ones have the power of invention and regeneration, age-crossing, dreaming up alternative worlds that their culture may one day grow into.
