Parliament House - 20141005 @ 06:02
An extended exposure pre-dawn "Blue Hour" photograph of the main entrance to Parliament House taken using my iPhone 5s mounted on a MeFoto DayTrip tripod using their SideKick360 mobile phone mount.
In the course of taking this photo, a pair of AFP police officers came over and struck up a pretty interesting conversation. They asked why I hadn't set up down the line of symmetry of the building (to the right of where this shot was taken from). My answer was that I wanted to have these metallic flagpoles in the shot. The discussion then ranged from iPhones through to medium format cameras, and the relative merits of digital and film photography. One of the officers told a delightful story of going to the War Memorial at around 2:00 am one morning to see the name of a relative scroll across the honour board, and nearly missing out on a photograph of the event when encountering various issues with the camera on his mobile phone. And just as I was packing up, a gaggle of well-equipped tourists appeared from the underground carpark to take the classic shots of the building at sunrise. Each had multiple cameras with great big lenses on straps around their necks. I nodded to them ... and slipped my "camera" (iPhone) back into the chest pocket on my jacket.
