Bheema, the elephant-killer

For the longest time,I'd assumed that the name of the town was ಹಳೆಬೇಡು - old town, until the guide clarified that it wasn't ಹಳೆಬೇಡು , but ಹಳಿಬೇಡು - ruined town.

Apparently, the town was laid to waste by the invading Delhi Sultanate, which had defaced quite a significant portion of the sculptures.

Now, back to the story at hand- According to legends, Bheema is supposed to have the strength of a thousand elephants. Here's a scene from the battle of Mahabharata, where Bheema kills a thousand elephants effortlessly and casts them aside. The pile in the left corner is the pile of killed elephants, and apparently, the pile touched the firmamement.
