Cotton Candy over the Marriott
Looks kinda unreal doesn't it. Well I challenge you to find out yourself by visiting the marina when conditions are right before calling B.S. on this. By right conditions I mean low level clouds during the blue time.
This evening sunset occurred at 5:37pm although it did not amount to much. The notorious west coast marine layer may have been the cause of the poor sunset but I am not sure. By 6:00pm the low level clouds exhibited a orange tint against a blue sky. By 6:07 the blue intensified and the clouds exhibited maximum pinkeyness. Is that a word, probably not. But it did not last long.
I believe that sunlight scattering during the blue time combines with city lights to color the low level clouds. When the blue time ended the color in the clouds also disappeared. The city lights alone were not sufficient to produce the color.
I did enhance the photo but not as much as you might expect. A 1 sec exposure is a color intensifier in itself. The major change with photoshop was to stitch two photo for a vertorama, increase the brightness, contrast and apply some vibrance, some vibrance but not that much.
I was really jacked and trying to move around to get different views before the color disappeared. I kept passing another photographer saying “aint this great”. After the color disappeared I introduced myself and discovered he is a fellow flickr member 738Nick
