Malita Bar & Lounge in Valletta
Malta is a beautiful, tiny island in the middle of the Mediterranean with gorgeous beaches and a great atmosphere in the limestone coloured cities. But off the beaten track there so many interesting things to explore.
This picture is from Strait Street at the heart of Valletta, the capital of Malta. It used to be a bustling and brawling place especially frequented by British and American sailors and soldiers with its bars, music halls and brothels. But when Malta got it's independence in 1964 and the servicemen left Malta Strait Street quickly became a desolate place. Walking down the street today is like taking a step back in time and seeing the bar signs and decorations from 40 years ago.
