Examples of Green Street practices. Green Streets are Low Impact Development (LID) designs that are installed adjacent to the roadway and within the county right-of-way. Some examples of Green Street practices include rain gardens, bioretention, bioswales, tree box filters, and pervious surfaces. The intent is to mimic nature by routing stormwater runoff into these practices where it filters through vegetation and into the soil, thereby reducing both pollutants and water volume entering nearby streams.
