Building the Illinois National Road

I bought these seven photos on eBay recently, of a construction crew laying the brick National Road near Marshall, IL.

 

This photo confirms the location. The sign hiding behind the Caterpillar says that Davis H's rooms for rent are 32 miles away, in Brazil, Indiana. Marshall, IL, is 32 miles from Brazil on US 40.
