The King Cheetah - (Kickstarter #6)
A rare mutation of cheetah characterized by a distinct fur pattern...The unique coat pattern is now known to be the result of a mutation inherited as a single autosomal recessive allele.
The animal was regarded as a myth because it was seen so infrequently and between 1926 when it was first reported in Zimbabwe and 1975 when the first ever photograph was taken of one in the Kruger National Park there were only five reported sightings.
It has been known to exist in Zimbabwe, Botswana and in the northern part of South Africa's Transvaal province.
This King Cheetah is an ambassador (and the only King on the West Coast) and photographed at a Wildlife Conservation Network Event for Cheetah Conservation Botwana in Los Altos, California.
