The DoF is fantastic here! I wonder if the composition could be a little stronger with more "conceptual contrast" of the King/Queen against the pawn... Maybe, maybe not. I still like this shot =)

This is the white pawn making the first move of the whole game.

He(?) is now in between black and white without the possibility to go back. Maybe a view from the top would have portrayed that better.

Anyway even though on a conceptual level the message could have been more clear from an aesthetic point of view I am more than happy and consider this photo as one of my all-time-favorites. At least for now ;-)

this is really cool. he looks very brave out there on his own - the littlest piece on the board, making the first move, knowing he can't go back.

dieses bild gefällt mir besonders gut! ich finde es sehr schön wie du es freigestellt hast und dann nochmal durch das licht hervorgehoben hast!!

      super!!

D4Dee I can see that you are a very emphatic person ;-)

Danke Coschda, so war es auch gemeint ... Mittlerweile gelingt es mir immer öfter eine Bild zu produzieren, dass so aussieht wie ich es mir vorgestellt habe ;-)

Excellent Mariano, I linked to the shot for a fotoclub discussion on lens basics for beginners. It is a fine example of where a shallow depth of field works very well. We were only ten people and I did credit you. Hope that was OK.
