There's nothing like a nice pen to inspire writing.

Yes, way before computers. Remember actually writing long letters with ink on paper? Well, maybe not with pink ink...

Thanks for the kind words. These are a few things on my daugther's desk I came across while putting laundry away. Did I mention that I'm easily distracted?

MJ: it's the "artist's eye" always looking for hidden beauty. That's my theory & I'm sticking to it...

Easily distracted? Pfft! Too much to little time....

We wrote with pens (more modern ones of course) at grammar school and I haven't done it since then. Dare say that I miss it...

JM2, I like your theory. :) Hidden beauty is all around us, often times we just get too busy chasing our tails.

borya, I miss writing with pens too. The aspect of trying to write neatly so others can read it obviously gets lost with computers.

My handwriting is very much affected by the pen I use. I am a doodler, scribbler: even when working at my computer I am constantly writing on paper. I love the way the pen flows over the page.

I still have fountain pens that I use occasionally.

Isn't it something how much our writing and drawing is changed by the feel of the nib or point of the pen or pencil. I'm sure shortly after the photo was taken, you couldn't resist doing some sketching or writing. Thank you for the kind of still life we all enjoy.

When I saw the quill I remembered drawing pictures of animals with a quill and ink as a child. That scratchy feeling of quill on paper.

      Oh, fabulous!!!

I love this photo, and I have really enjoyed reading all the comments!!

I am *still* something of a pen-and-ink "junkie". I remember the old Schaeffer Cartridge Fountain Pens I had in high school - - - definitely "pink ink" at times - - - and red and green and "blue-black" and peacock blue! I had one pen for each color I wanted to use so the supply getting to the pen would be "pure" :)

I used to *stay* in trouble with my teachers for writing with pink ink. :) It wasn't "suitable for formal writing" and I can't tell you how many articles of clothing I ruined because of leaky pens!!

While I love all the comments attached to this photo - and the photo itself - I'm going to start my Saturday with thoughts of having "lived too long" and being in a "time warp" LOL

      Don't worry - - - that happens to me a lot!!!

Thanks for posting the photo in
