Summer on my mind
A few weeks ago I headed out to buy a red trench coat – rationalising that autumn is coming, London will be grey and misty – and I don’t need yet another black/grey/beige item in my predominantly black wardrobe. I tried on a red one...and a black one (just in case I do look ravishingly stylish in all black)...and a beige one. And then I saw the yellow and there was no turning back. The store assistant took the last one in my size off a mannequin and I walked out the store wearing it three minutes later.
It’s a bright and cheerful spark in the commuter sea of black and blue. It makes me smile when I see my glowing reflection in random office windows and mirrors. A colleague, spotting me in the middle of a crowded train station put it best, “how can I miss you, you are so....yellow.”
So here I am, in my not-so-stylish autumn outerwear of choice -- but how can you not be happy in this most dazzling shade of summer sun?
