Ridge Walk

This was taken on a walk on the Greensand Ridge Walk and is Bedfordshire's premier long distance walk on a stunning summer's evening. The route spans the county for a total of 40 miles, following the greensand ridge. The walk is an ideal introduction to the history, landscape and wildlife of this part of the county. Section 3, starting in the busy Georgian town of Ampthill, takes you through Church Meadow and Maulden Wood, both Sites of Special Scientific Interest. The route also passes through Clophill and by Chicksands Wood, one of the largest ancient woodland sites in the county.

I used a 0.6 ND grad filter and set the focus manually using the Hyperfocal technique at 7ft to get the grass and flowers in focus and my aperture to f16 which gave me a hyperfocal distance of 2.12ft and infinite depth of field.

This image is a combination of two exposures 1 stop apart and processed in Photomatix Pro. I then increased saturation, and sharpened in Adobe Lightroom 3.
