Hello, there.

This is Dina. My wife and I found her through CouchSurfing.com and stayed with her over the weekend in Petaluma, CA.

I posted a vertical crop of this photo here.

I like this picture. the background, while distracting in other situations, works really well with the fore subject.

I really like the expression on the subjects face.

the "right" amount of depth of field + the expression really makes this subject pop.

You might want to try and pop up the exposure so the background is a bit more over exposed to give the subject a little bit more focus. Just a thought.

@Dr Blind: Thanks for the tip. I'll try and play with it. That seems to be one of the few oddities with this lens on my camera, is it's winding up slightly underexposing more often than not. Also, I still don't have a great eye for where the exposure should be. Which is probably the bigger issue.

(I should really look at my camera to make sure I don't have some lingering exposure adjustment set somewhere...)

Yep. love it. especially the depth of field - very nicely done!
I find my eye is drawn away from Dina's face to the line of flags on the refrigerator. I'm not sure what you could do about that, but some thoughts that come to mind are:
      even shorter depth of field?
      move the flags?
different angle, so Dina is in front of the flags?
