2008 Lam Tsuen Au – Fanling
When: April 6, 2008
Where: From Lam Tsuen Au (林村坳) to Fanling (粉嶺), via Tai To Yan (大刀屻), Pak Tai To Yan (北大刀屻), Kei Lak Tsai (箕勒仔) and Wu Tip Shan (蝴蝶山)
Who: Me
What: Hiking
Description: Originally I was not certain whether I should go hiking or not, as it was quite cloudy in the morning. But as it became more sunny at noon, I decided to give it a try.

I quickly ordered a take-out set meal at McDonald's, then took tram to Sheung Wan (上環), took MTR to Tai Po Market (大埔墟) and took bus to Kadoorie Farm. It took just 2 hours to get there.

On the way to Tai To Yan, it was not that enjoyable as the path is under the under the shade of trees, meaning that there was nearly no ventilation for taking out my sweat.

Fortunately it only took me 50 minutes to pass that area. Along the ridge, there were many insects flying around, including butterflies and grasshoppers. There were also many different flowers.

The ridge along Tai To Yan and Pak Tai To Wan was also a nice place for sightseeing, where one can overlook Tai Mo Shan (大帽山), Kai Kung Leng (雞公嶺), Yuen Long Plain (元朗平原), Lam Tsuen Valley (林村谷), Tai Po (大埔), Tolo Harbour (吐露港), Ma On Shan (馬鞍山), Fanling (粉嶺), Sheung Shui (上水), and even Shenzhen (深圳)!

On Kei Lak Tsai and Wu Tip Shan, there were many gardens along the path. I guess those were places for morning exercise (晨運). In some of the gardens, there were many beautiful flowers, though half of them had already withered. I guess they will turn into juicy fruits pretty soon! Summer is coming!

The whole journey took me almost 5 hours. It was a bit exhausting, but very pleasant as well.
