Many injured birds are brought for rehab to the Chattahoochee Nature Center and released back into the wild. Those that cannot be released are used for educational purposes, and over the years you've seen several photos I've taken of their captive hawks and owls. But even those birds that perished serve a purpose: Docents sometimes walk around with a fully outstretched wing of a Great horned owl to show visitors the magnificent beauty of its patterned design. This shot is a closeup of the center of the wing.
