Legion Pool
Legion Pool is the University of Georgia"s historic outdoor pool. Funded by the WPA, it was built in 1935 by the American Legion as a recreational resource for the city of Athens, which managed the pool until 1975, when the pool fell under the stewardship of UGA.

UGA has now proposed to demolish the aging pool, deeming it obsolete, in favor of the construction of a new, more expensive pool half the size in a different location - even though Legion Pool could be restored for a relatively small sum of $ 490,000.
