Tawny Coster - Acraea violae Open Winged Location : MNP

The Tawny Coster is a widely distributed Jewel in India and can be mostly seen around forest clearings through out the year. What makes this jewel very interesting is a very specific behavioral pattern. When attacked by any predator, this beauty instantly acts dead and secrets a extremely foul smelling yellow oily fluid from its legs. This distracts the predator and before it can know whats happening, this jewel is merrily fluttering away to safety !!!!!
