Rock of Ages
The moon descends behind a section of the eastern Sierra Nevada range much as it did some 8,000 years ago when earlier inhabitants of the Owens River Valley carved these intricate petroglyphs into a grand block of basalt high above the valley floor. Commonly known as "Sky Rock", this grand masterpiece is a thrilling reward to hikers who happen upon it.
Rob and I began our morning with an offroad scouting mission through dry creek beds, hunting for petroglyphs and other interesting geologic wonders. This was my 3rd visit to the area and I was happy to come away with a few good keepers.
The lens is the DFA 25mm f/4 on the 645Z. Rob acted as lighting engineer. Nobody fell off the deadly sheer edge in total darkness, so that was a plus.
Thanks for visiting!
