Breaking the ice with a digital camera
We visited a classroom during our trip to Cuba in 2003. The kids initially were very shy as a crowd of (generally older) adults crowded into the room. After staring uncomfortably at each other for a bit, most of the folks in our group left to see a different class room. I asked Joanna to take a photo with her point-and-shoot digital camera and show it to the kids. I don't think the kids had seen the instant feedback of a digital camera before. It was an immediate hit!
