Frost-5 (RVP-05-03-28)

Ponemah Bog in Amherst, New Hampshire (Audubon Society land).

 

I should point out that these plants are known as "bog cotton" (shown in bloom in other pictures in my stream) and here they're sticking up through the frozen surface of the Ponemah Bog pond.

 

This image received a commendation in the Canon/New Scientist Photography Contest.

 

It has also reached #6 on Flickr's Interestingness chart for Jan 26 2006.
