Equipment recommendation: For surf and bird photography, I recommend a Canon 600mm f/4 IS lens (300mm f/2.8 shown here) on a Wimberley Head II from tripodhead.com on a Gitzo GZGT5540LS Gitzo Series 5 tripod, Systematic Tele Studex 6 X Carbon Fiber 4 Section Tripod Legs with G-Lock, Maximum Load 55.0 lbs. The 19th Annual Big, Bad and Ugly Surf contest “The Ugly” is the most challenging surfing event in the Coalition of Surfing Clubs’ schedule. The event was held at Morro Rock on February 21, 2009, beginning at 7:15 AM, and was promoted by the Estero Bay Surf Club www.esterobaysurfclub.com/ Big, Bad and Ugly Surf and Turf Invitational.
