10 Jan 2012 Creative Commons request approved: Subject: Request to use a Brown Pelican photo of yours. Date: 12th January, 2012. Dear Mike, We've corresponded before about using some of your photos on our All About Birds website and elsewhere. Now I'm writing in the hopes we can use a photo for BirdScope, our print newsletter. We're running a short article about a new grant that will help us work to reestablish seabird populations on islands in Baja California. One of the target seabirds is the Brown Pelican, and you have a great photo that would be perfect to go with the piece. It's this one: www.flickr.com/photos/mikebaird/262758453/ I know that most of your photos are under Creative Commons license, but I just wanted to notify you and check to make sure the use is OK. For our purposes, we may want to crop or extract the bird from the photo. The printed newsletter would go out to about 70,000 of our supporters in late January, and we'd also like to reproduce the image on our website. (Here's an example of what an online article looks like, www.allaboutbirds.org/page.aspx?pid=2272 ) As a nonprofit organization, we typically aren't able to pay for use of photographs, but we'd give you photo credit and send you several copies of the newsletter for your files. Would you allow us to do this? Thanks again for the help you've given us, and I hope your photography is going as well as ever, Hugh Powell, Science Editor.

It will be used in a campfire program about the sensational seabirds found on the central coast! I would add your photo credit to the image and at the end of the slideshow.
