Oelwein Shops in 1903

    I wish I could take pictures of the entire engineering drawing but this was the part I wanted to see at the Hub City Museum... the tracks in and out of the shops. For those looking, I count 33 tracks coming in from the transfer table and several more that don't seem to enter the building. Also interesting is the amount of space at the boiler end of the shops which are at the bottom of this picture and to the south west in Oelwein

      This is the track profile prior to the yard's rebuilding in the early 1950s, I believe. The diesel running repair house is not there yet nor the diesel fueling pad and sand tower.

      agreed. as the title suggests, it's from 1903. There were many changes yet to come.
