Out Of Whack On O'Farrell
365 Project Day 140: May 20, 2011
Still loving the 15mm. Still saving for the 8-16mm...
Spent some time this evening shooting around Market and O'Farrell before a fantastic wine tasting at the SFSOB. I'm posting a few from today, since I got a couple very different shots that I like. On the left is the Phelan Building again, the historic flatiron at the corner of Market and O'Farrell. The building, like much of the area, dates to just after the 1906 earthquake, when most of the area burned down. The Renaissance/Baroque structure, completed in 1907 to replace the original Phelan Building that had stood on the site, is one of the few Market St. flatirons surviving today.
I'm thinking I need to spend more time exploring this area. The architecture is fun to shoot at crazy angles, and there's always some interesting people around if I get bored of buildings.
