Coloured Eye

Ok, ok, yes I've done a pic or two like this before but I was organising some of the eye pictures my wife took and I had to do something with one. =)

This started as something I've done before in the gimp - accentuate the eye colours, sharpen the iris, stick a monochrome version on a layer on top then put a layer mask in to show the original colours - but I thought I'd spice it up a little with extra colour. To do that I used a gradient (full saturation spectrum CCW) on a separate layer then used the polar coordinates plug in. I'd done the gradient top to bottom so that ended up a series of coloured rings. I resized the layer to roughly the size of the eye moved it in place then went through the blending mode until I found a nice one =)
