SJSA Fifth Grade - I Fell in Love With The Teacher
My fifth grade class with the teacher I fell in love with, Miss Powaga. 51 Kids in the class! All teachers have credentials to teach, very few of them have the talent to do so; Miss Powaga had BOTH! She made me feel as if I mattered and after what I went through in fourth grade with the dreaded godess Mrs. R. Reid, I needed what she brought to the classroom. She instilled in me the seeds of knowledge of self, by that I mean her attitude towards me showed me that I was a unique, lovable individual, a gift from God to the world. I find it amazing that none of the nuns made me feel that way. She treated all of her students with respect and kindness, she was a blessing and a much needed oasis in the desert that I had been walking through in third and fourth grade. I still had trouble with Math, and she certainly graded me fairly but she helped me see myself in a new way.
I have published my autobiography and it tells the the story of living, learning, and loving in the 1950's and 1960's and beyond. It is a good read - send me a flicker email if you want a sammple from the book by email - a PDF file. My website:
