an absolute must to fully enjoy this picture!
This is the wheel I've been looking for all summer - the Banded Demoiselle with its metallic glitter is one of my prefered Odonata!
To shoot them in the act was not really a comfortable experience: after watching them for some time flying around together playfully I knew exactly what would happen, so I had to go into the river to get near enough and I was standing knee-deep in mud bent down with the cam near water level (note I was below the damsels!), the sun was burning down on me mercylessly and the mosquitoes just loved the fact that I was otherwise occupied - and the damsels too, for that matter - and they had free reign.
But hey, all for the art - sitting here nursing my mosquito bites and looking at the pictures I think it was worth it :-)
