Wild hyacinth and ramps

Nearing the end of their quest to reach the Pacific Ocean the Lewis and Clark expedition survived by eating the root of a type of wild hyacinth related to the one shown here interspersed with wild ramps. This plant is known for blooming from the bottom up.
