Tiki Room Tangaroa Tree 1963

Welcome to the Sixties!

In case you lie awake nights wondering about these things, here is how Tangaroa originally looked when Disneyland's Enchanted Tiki Room debuted in the summer of 1963. Sporting bright bunches of plastic fantasy-flowers wound about his limbs, as well as large hand-made blossoms to conceal his brood of tiki youngsters, the self-described "mighty tree" puts on a flamboyant display.

The most striking thing to me is that ochre complexion (which I think I really like, actually.)

And make note of the groovy waste can in the lower left. Please do not carry any food or drink into the Tiki Room. Our performers are temperamental and easily upset! Thank you for your cooperation.
