Forester Rear-Ended 4
My poor Subaru after we were hit in a rear-ender. I was getting on the highway (Route 9) last Wednesday morning when the line of cars merging all stopped short and the lady behind me slammed into the back of my car. I don't think she even hit her brakes (she was likely looking over her shoulder at the highway traffic trying to find a space to merge into). She was going so fast her airbag went off.
Thankfully I wasn't injured, but my beloved Forester has been decalred a total loss by my insurance. I am sad and angry that I can't force the other driver's insurance company to pay whatever it takes to put my poor car back together. I LOVE this car and it has been paid off for years. I cried today while I picked up my personal belongings out of her at the body shop and said goodbye. These are a few photos showing what a small amount of damage it took to make her "not worth repairing" compared to the replacement cost. Never mind that she's worth a heck of a lot more to me.
With the bumper removed it is easier to see the extent of the damage. I still think she should be save-able but being an older car her blue book value makes it cheaper for the insurance companies to write off the cost instead of the repair bill.
