Danger? | by Nick Scobel

I found this large Florida Bark Scorpion (Centruroides gracilis) under some cover in a thick hammock of melaleuca in south Florida. Scorpions often get a bad rap, but even when prodded with a stick this large individual refused to sting. These guys are venomous, but are much less toxic than many other members of the Centruroides genus. They can deliver a powerful sting, but it wouldn't be much worse than that of a wasp or bee.
