Sankt Peter-Ording III

Sankt Peter-Ording III

This image is mostly inspired by the highly esteemed master of ZEN Nathan Wirth (nlwirth here on flickr), whose self portraits are so intriguing and unique!!

While visiting St. Peter-Ording beach for some long exposures with my daughter on friday afternoon and the sun were close to set, I felt a vast demand on trying something into the same direction. Instead of brace myself up and put me in front of the camera I asked Marie to please please stand still for at least two to four minutes, I told her that if she is watching carefully direction west, she could see with some chance the coastline of Scarborough (which in fact is exactly at the other end of the north sea coast, just 350 miles away). And so she did, and in my opinion she did great :)

Please be patience with me and my work. This is my very first attempt on something like that. It was fun to do something different, although I make no pretence to create so magnificent and ZEN-like art work, like Nathan does. I understand ZEN as something of breaking up the permanent (and sometimes destructive) work with oneself. And this is what I did while shooting this image.
