The Moirae, White Procession, Burning Man 2010

So...I met these guys after the sunrise white procession and took about a zillion pics of them. Up until this point I hadn't really shot people too much, and avoided posing them at all costs, but...well, this is clearly all different. This photo took on a life of it's own when I started processing it...they reminded me of something, and I just couldn't remember what exactly it was. And then, this morning, it came to me: they are the Moirae, or the Fates, the most powerful of all greek gods and goddesses. The spinner of the thread of life, the measurer of your time on earth, and the one who cuts the thread when your time is up. I'm not sure which one is which, tho. So: either they are the Moirae incarnate, or it's just another perfect moment at Burning Man. (And thanks to David for loaning me his awesome camera for, like, four days. If that's not tempting fate I don't know what is!) - See more pics on my site at
