Ambassador Bridge pier

The Ambassador Bridge piers were designed by Wirt Rowland of Smith, Hinchman & Grylls. The bridge was constructed between 1927 and 1929. Rowland fans will notice his "angled arch", used here and in numerous buildings he designed in the late 1920s.

Photographing the bridge close up has become quite a problem. Within less than 15 seconds of stopping my car, police asked me to leave the area (I was legally parked on a public road). While I understand the reason for heavily patrolling the area, I was breaking no laws and not acting suspiciously. Perhaps if I had firmly asserted my intention to remain and go about my business, they would have left me alone. I didn't, however, wish to risk wasting much of my day dealing with the consequences if I was wrong.
