Harry H. Whiteley, Architect
Between 1919 and 1939, Architect Harry Hayden Whiteley designed many important houses in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles in the Spanish Colonial Revival style, including homes for Los Feliz pioneer and industrialist James W. McFarland (1919); Captain Harry M. Rubey (1920); and Financier and City Council Member Robert M. Allan (1923), Dr. B.C. Coleman and film director Robert McGowan (1929); and a Colonial Revival style house for Jack E. Smith in 1939. Many of these homes were later owned by well-known celebrities.
