I spotted this brightly colored salamander on my way out of the glen. These juveniles are more brightly colored than the mature adults and are rarely ever seen during the day light hours...I can't for the life of me imagine why? This gave me pause to think, why did mother nature make them such a target....a cruel joke maybe? I read that their color is their defense mechanism....nice.
He was quite patient with me and allowed for as many shots, as close as I wanted to get. I welcomed the chance to lie down on the ground for a little while....I was exhausted! I figured by the time I switched out lenses he would scurry off...not the case.
Happy trails 'lil fella, happy trails.
