Electric trams have been operating on Hong Kong Island since 1904. Currently, the Hongkong Tramways Limited (香港電車) operates six overlapping routes on 13 kilometres of double track along the northern shore of Hong Kong Island between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and about three kilometers of single track around Happy Valley.
The company's 164 trams, including two open-balcony trams for tourists and private hire and one special maintenance tram, make up the world's only fully double-deck tram fleet.
The Dennis Trident Double-Decker bus is part of the First Bus Fleet.
New World First Bus Services Ltd NWFB) was founded in 1998 and operates 54 Hong Kong Island routes, 8 Kowloon and Tseung Kwan O routes and 33 cross-harbour routes.
Fares for Hong Kong Island routes range from $3.0 to $11.6 and Kowloon and Tseung Kwan O routes range from $3.2 to $7.5.
In 2005, NWFB had 694 licensed buses (all air-conditioned), which carried 493,000 passengers a day.
