South Tufa Area, Mono Lake-9
Mono Lake is located in the Mono Basin, National Forest Scenic Area, INYO National Forest. Located to the immediate east of Yosemite National Park, Mono is the westernmost basin of the Basin and Range province, which stretches across western North America between the Rocky Mountains and the Sierra Nevada. The Mono Basin area was designated a National Forest Scenic Area by Congress in 1984 to protect its ecological, geological and cultural resources. It is the nation's first National Forest Scenic Area.
