Thanks, Joe. I think I'm beginning to see the city differently than before. I hope that's a good thing.

Very striking. The contrast between the deep brown of the center building to the cloudy sky and industrial grey on the left and the deep blue and smaller buildings on the right. IT's a real pleasure to look at.

[Good thing, indeed. Who needs reality tv, when you can engage yourself by walking through the city.]

I love it. The building, or should I say the picture itself, talks to me about the notion of endurance. Congratulations!

      *digital, for certain.
      *thank you, tom. added.
*papagenosi, i hadn't thought specifically about endurance, but i think that's a great way to think about the shot. thanks!

What an engaging photo...can you tell me what area that buildibg is located in? I'm a Chicago native that has "transplanted " myself in Galesburg(UGH), and this photo just makes me wish to be back in the greatest city around! Even though the area looks a bit abandoned, it STILL has that CHI-TOWN feel...

    15. metroblossom 89 months ago | reply

Ha. I know what you mean, urbanana!

      Thank you, Mr. Rosco.

tweety, it's roughly E. 37th and S. Cottage Grove. I've added it to the map, so you can follow the map link above and see it in context.

the light is amazing. i'd love to know what you are using to light these with. 580ex? car headlights? strobes?

    17. metroblossom 88 months ago | reply

Thank you, marmalicious! They're all good guesses, but I haven't used any of the above. I almost never introduce light of my own into images, so this is just streetlight. What you're probably noticing is I've brought the white balance closer to actual white.
