Blackburnian Warbler (Setophaga fusca)

Now we don't usually get a day like we had at the banding station like today very often. Awesome variety of male warblers decided to move through Northern Illinois today and we were able to benefit handsomely. Now I have always wanted to see a male Blackburnian Warbler upclose and I don't think one can get much closer than this for one of these little guys. Steve brought this bird up from the below nets and knew that it was a bird I'd always hoped to hold. Overjoyed, ecstatic would be more like it, I was actually nervous as I banded this special visitor. Needless to say, caused a great sensation at the banding station, pictures, then release back into the wild. Thank you!! 4-30-11.
