Australia Day 2012 - The Lambassador
It was Australia Day today, the day when we all find some flags and fire up the barbie.
I was inspired by images of George C Scott acting as General Patton.
Pattons speech to the troops in the Uk became famous and started off
"Men, this stuff that some sources sling around about America wanting out of this war, not wanting to fight, is a crock of bullshit. Americans love to fight . . . . "
Speaking of Barbie makes me think of Sam Kekovich, who, every Austraia Day releases a new promo for lamb, and his videos have reached cult status now.
Sam Kekovich is an Australian media personality, sports commentator and former Australian rules football player.
He is well known for his controversial behaviour, both on and off the field, and most recently for his series of satirical advertisements as the spokesman for Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) to promote the lamb industry.
In the lead-up to Australia Day 2005, Kekovich headed an advertising campaign encouraging people to eat more Australian lamb. In this particular ad campaign, he labeled vegetarians as being "un-Australian", provoking outrage from groups such as animal rights activists[who?]. The Australian Advertising Standards Bureau allowed the ads to remain on the air, as they were considered satirical, despite viewers' complaints.
HERE is his 2012 ad, which refers to a song this year - I'm a Barbie Girl.
I suggest you have a look at the videos, and the BARBIE song is done by Melissa Tkautz, an Aussie actress with a big future just in front of her.
Another Aussie flies the flag below.
Words Of Wisdom Challenge.
Flags Theme - haha, the technique is a bit obvious. The fun of combining different images together and trying to mimic a significant event.
