A dassie, or rock hyrax, watches over the city of Cape Town with her brood from her domain on Table Mountain. Dassies, a rabbit-sized rodent, live among rock crevices on the mountain where they are preyed upon by eagles and hawks. They are quite unafraid of humans. I was able to edge very close to this group during our walk on the mountain, managing to capture them with a wide angle lens. Bizarrely, the dassie's closest living relative is the elephant!
