Energy in Bronze

My husband calls her "The Mad Woman of Shallot" ! :-)

She stands here before the Charlotte International Airport where she puzzles many people. Her unflattering profile, as seen here, is actually folds of her cloak. Her true face is hidden from view. She is not really angry, as many people think, although the airport shuttle driver, who knew her complete biography, told me with a wink that "she's angry because she lost her colonies".

We see here Queen Charlotte of England (1744-1818), the city's "patron saint", as depicted by sculptor Raymond Kaskey. Originally German, Charlotte was married to King George III and bore 15 children. Her biography is easily located on the web.
