James & Henrietta McElhenny Square
From 2001, July 30:
WHEREAS: This City Council was deeply saddened at learning of the death of Robert J. McElhenny on July 14, 2001; and
WHEREAS: Robert was a retired Division Vice President of Genuine Parts Company (NAPA); and
WHEREAS: Robert was the beloved son of the Henrietta (Bourque) McElhenny and the late James W. McElhenny; and
WHEREAS: Robert’s passing will leave a void in the lives of all his surviving family, his wife Norma M. (Bonin) McElhenny; his children Robin A., Robert J. Jr., John F. and David C. McElhenny; his mother Henrietta (Bourque) McElhenny; and his sibling James L., Rosemary McDonald, Patricia Devereaux and Judy Feeney; and
WHEREAS: Robert will be sorely missed by all he touched and loved; now therefore be it
RESOLVED: That this City Council go on record extending its deepest sympathy to the family of Robert J. McElhenny at this time of such personal loss; and be it further
RESOLVED: That the City Clerk be and hereby is requested to forward a suitably engrossed copy of this resolution to the McElhenny family on behalf of the entire City Council.
And four years later,

MAYOR SULLIVAN
ORDERED: That the City Council dedicate an appropriate site in honor of James and Henrietta McElhenny; and be it further
ORDERED: That the Chief of Staff to the Mayor be directed to confer with the family regarding a suitable dedication ceremony and communicate with the Department of Public Works to arrange for the sign.
Also, May 7, 2005 was declared Jim and Henny McElhenny Day day in Cambridge.
