This week (7-8)
29 March 2011
I am amazed just how much Autumn has changed the past 2 months. Now not only does she smile, but she coos, expresses frustration and tiredness much more easily now.
We have been swimming twice. It costs £3.90 for me and when we're only in the water for 10 mins, it might not seem worth it. But there are some things that I want to ensure Autumn knows - confidence in the water and how to ride a bike are basic skills in my opinion. So, we'll continue to go each week so that she gets used to being in the pool and eventually starts to love it.
I'm sure she will love the pool too, because already she is beginning to really enjoy bath time. No longer apprehensive, she smiles, pushes herself up the bath support so that her head tips back slightly & rests in the water. Very brave for an 8 week old!
On the down side, we've learned that her right hip is a bit 'immature'. This can cause problems in the future, so we are having to stretch her hip joint 5 times a day. It's uncomfortable & causes her to cry. It goes against the parental instinct, but we need to think long term. If the problem isn't resolved within 4 weeks, she will need to wear a brace every night.
