Six Months Old

Minna's six months today and to celebrate she started eating solid foods. She was a little tired and has a bit of a cold, so she got a bit worked up while trying her new food. But she ate more of this butternut squash than I expected. And then she wanted spaghetti sauce and cheese from inside a ravioli when we ate our dinner. So she tried that too. She was pretty interested in eating and seemed to enjoy it. So big!!

This kind of willingness to try the new foods, then to really enjoy the experience in spite of not feeling very well, bodes well for Minna's future, don't you think? And not just as a fabulous cook! But this applies for all novel experiences! You'll have to be extra-vilgilant to keep her safe once she starts her self-propelled era. Also, I must tell you how much I love Minna's dimple! Such an ADORABLE baby!

I just read your blog entry about the eating business. From the start, I never gave my daughter baby food because it didn't taste like food. I made (and make) almost every bite she eats, and she's more open-minded for it. Have you tried giving your kids raw smoothies? My baby insisted on having some of mine one day, and now she eats them all the time--kale, apple, cucumber, and avocado. Great way to get veggies in them. Good luck with your super-cuties!
